Then Peter asked, "Can anyone object to their being baptized, now that [Cornelius and his relatives and friends] have received the Holy Spirit just as we did?" So he gave orders for them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Afterward Cornelius asked him to stay with them for several days.

Key Thought

Can anyone properly object when the Holy Spirit has clearly been involved? "No!" So Gentiles were baptized, and Jewish and Gentile Christian brothers and sisters shared their lives together in Christ. The Holy Spirit empowered the word to convict their hearts. The Spirit was also the power driving their fellowship. They were one family, filled with the same Holy Spirit. They broke down barriers and lived as one! (Ephesians 2:11-18; 4:4-6)

Today's Prayer

Father in Heaven, please forgive the petty things we keep doing against each other - whether at school, on the job, in our homes, in our churches, or anywhere else. Convict us, Lord, and call us to your holy grace so that we will remove any barriers between us and your other followers who call upon your name. Through Jesus, I pray. Amen.
