He is Risen!

Happy Resurrection Sunday from Heartlight and Verse of the Day!

Read 'Resurrection!'
[Jesus said,] "But I will send you the Advocate — the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me."

Key Thought

When someone suggests that things are "all about me," we are usually put off by the arrogance. Not so with Jesus. Jesus is the greatest message God has ever given about himself (John 1:14-18). Jesus is God's clearest way of speaking about himself (Hebrews 1:1-3). Faith in Jesus is the key to applying the Scriptures of the Bible accurately and effectively in our lives (2 Timothy 3:14-17). Jesus is the goal of the Holy Spirit's work in our lives (2 Corinthians 3:17-18) and is the goal of the apostles for our lives (Colossians 1:27-29). There is no other power or authority that opens up the door of salvation for us (John 14:6; Acts 4:11-12). So when Jesus talks about sending the Holy Spirit to testify about him and confirm the truth about him, then we need to recognize that the Holy Spirit being at work within us is absolutely essential. The Holy Spirit - our Advocate, Counselor, Intercessor, Friend, Helper, and Comforter - is the "Spirit of truth."

Today's Prayer

O Father, I want your truth to be alive in my life. I freely yield my heart and my will to the influence of the Holy Spirit and the Scriptures. I want Jesus to be Lord of my life and the Holy Spirit to conform my life to the character and compassion of my Savior, in whose name I pray. Amen.
