God's Holy Fire: 'Insulted and Disdained the Holy Spirit?'

Tuesday, September 15, 2026

For anyone who refused to obey the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Just think how much worse the punishment will be for those who have trampled on the Son of God, and have treated the blood of the covenant, which made us holy, as if it were common and unholy, and have insulted and disdained the Holy Spirit who brings God's mercy to us.

Key Thought

Sin can become so ingrained that it can lead us to spurn grace, treat as unimportant the sacrifice of Jesus, and insult the Holy Spirit who brings us God's mercy and empowers us to become more and more like Jesus (2 Corinthians 3:18). To ignore God, to ignore the messages of the Holy Spirit, is unthinkable. Yet some of us do it each day because we have lost sight of the high cost God paid to redeem us from sin and lost sight of the love God has for each one of us!

Today's Prayer

O Father, forgive me for taking your grace for granted and not appreciating the high cost you paid to bring me into your family. Thank you for your Spirit who is alive in me and is transforming me to be more and more like Jesus, in whose name I pray. Amen.
