Examine yourselves to see if your faith is really genuine (2 Corinthians 13:5 NLT).
Looking through the magazines and catalogs that come in the mail, I’m always amazed by the efforts to reassure the customer that merchandise is the real stuff. Even when telling us that something isn’t real, advertisers use words that sound good, like "leather-like vinyl," in an effort to make the fake stuff sound better.
I guess this says something about the desire we all have.
I guess this says something about the desire we all have to have something of value - something that won't wear out, something that won't chip or tarnish or break. That's not just a consumer preference, it's a real soul need. We need something and somebody who has ultimate value. A real faith. A real savior.
Like Jesus!

About the Author
Dr. Faulkner was the very first person of note and influence who shared his content with us at
HEARTLIGHT.org beginning in 1996.
Paul Faulkner taught on the Abilene Christian University campus full-time for 35 years. He was honored in 1982 as the university's Teacher of the Year. He wrote several books and was a much sought-after speaker and seminar leader along with his Marriage Enrichment partner, Dr. Carl Brecheen. Dr. Faulkner mentored many ministers and church leaders, shared his loving homespun humor and wisdom through many channels, and endeared himself to thousands. Our dear friend and mentor went to be with the Lord in 2022, but his legacy lives on in the lives of those he touched and made better.
