Jesus stood up and commanded the wind and the waves to stop. Jesus said, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind stopped and the lake became calm.

Illustration of Mark 4:39 NLT — Jesus stood up and commanded the wind and the waves to stop. Jesus said, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind stopped and the lake became calm.

Key Thought

"'Quiet down!' ... and there was a great calm." This is Jesus' power in the heart of one of his followers. When in the middle of the storms of life, we must learn to listen for his voice, seek out his words, and remember the full message of his life. Jesus brings us calm when we know he is in ultimate control!

Today's Prayer

O God, my Father in heaven, give me faith to believe that Jesus can calm my heart and help me through my storms. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
