Unstoppable! 'You Need to Know Jesus!' — Acts 10:35-38

Tuesday, June 10, 2025

[Peter continued his reply to Cornelius and the others with him:] "In every nation [God] accepts those who fear him and do what is right. This is the message of Good News for the people of Israel — that there is peace with God through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. You know what happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee, after John began preaching his message of baptism. And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him."

Key Thought

Put in other words, Peter says to Cornelius and the others: "God listens to hearts of people from every nation. You are going to find real peace, true peace only with God, in Jesus. He is Lord of all people. Cornelius and the rest of you, you will find joy in knowing this Jesus. He did good things as you have done, and more. Jesus has done more than you can imagine because God anointed him with the Holy Spirit's power. This Jesus is from Nazareth. While I know most people think that nothing good comes out of Nazareth, Jesus is the great exception. God was with him. He released people oppressed by the devil and healed their illnesses. Now, Cornelius, I know you have heard about him, but it is time for you to believe he is more than a good man. Jesus is God with us; Jesus is our Messiah and Lord."

Today's Prayer

Precious Lord, Almighty God, my righteous Father, thank you! Thank you for coming to us in Jesus. Thank you for showing how much you love us and how deeply you desire to have us in your family. Thank you for not allowing our sin to keep you from coming. Thank you for not letting our skin color, race, language, background, social standing, political affiliation, or family history keep us from your love. In Peter's words, dear Lord, we hear our hope in Jesus, just as Cornelius found his. I believe, Father. I thank you, beloved Son. I seek your power, mighty Spirit. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
