Unstoppable! 'Shaken, Stirred, and Emboldened!' — Acts 4:31

Thursday, March 6, 2025

After [the disciples'] prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness.

Key Thought

God's response to the prayers of those early disciples came through the power of the Holy Spirit released on them to do what they had asked. The place they were meeting shook and their hearts and efforts were stirred as they were emboldened to proclaim Jesus regardless of the opposition they faced. As the old hymn says, "O for a faith that will not shrink..." They did not "shrink back" but were emboldened and empowered! Those early disciples should stir us to boldness, too!

Today's Prayer

O Father, please hear my prayer from an old hymn that fills my heart today:
Oh, for a faith that will not shrink,
Though pressed by every foe,
That will not tremble on the brink
Of any earthly woe!

I pray for such power and boldness in the name of Jesus. Amen.

From the song by William H. Bathurst, "O for a Faith That Will Not Shrink."
