Thoughts on Today's Verse...

This verse is from the wonderful story of Micaiah and his bravery as God's prophet. Jehoshaphat knew not to trust the counsel of the false prophets from the northern kingdom of Israel. He was adamant that before he involved God's people of Judah in a battle with anyone, his people needed first to seek the counsel of the Lord! This should also be our approach to life. So often, we ask God to bless what we've already decided to do rather than spend time praying, fasting, and in Scripture seeking our Father's will. Let's not rush our decisions. God has promised to lead us with his Spirit (Romans 8:9, 14; Galatians 5:18, 25); so, let's not rush the Spirit's input, or even worse, ignore it and then ask God to bless us anyway!

My Prayer...

Holy and Almighty God, ruler of all nations and Sovereign Lord over all creation, please guide my decisions as I seek your will and uphold your glory. I want my life, family, work, and ministry to honor your will in all of my decisions. I want to be your servant and not just seek my own way and my own glory. Thank you for sending your Spirit to help illuminate your Word as the Spirit leads, equips, and empowers me to serve you. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
