Thoughts on Today's Verse...

We waste our time when we lose our sense of urgency to live for God, TODAY! God has a plan for us, our world, and his church. Without God giving us his gift of spiritual calendaring ("number our days aright"), we never "gain a heart of wisdom." So how do we get such a gift? Pray without doubting, asking for God's help (James 1:5-7). We live each day knowing that Jesus is near (Philippians 4:5; Romans 13:11) and looking forward to his return for us (Luke 12:35-40; 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11). Anticipating Jesus' return as we trust the Lord for wisdom greatly impacts how we conduct our lives and set our priorities. So, rather than losing heart, let's ask God "to teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom."

My Prayer...

Holy and Almighty God, King of the Ages, you alone live in complete wisdom, justice, and grace. Please help me to know what time it is in my life and the role you want me to play at this stage of my journey. I want my life to be lived glorifying you and not wasting time. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
