Opening with Praise in Song and Scripture-Prayer:

We begin today with the song, "Spirit Break Out," as William McDowell and Trinity Anderson lead us to praise God for the gift and presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives:

Our opening prayer is taken from Paul's prayer in Ephesians 1:17-23. (The pronouns are changed to make this a personal prayer for ourselves and each other.)

[We] keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give [us] the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that [we] may know him better. [We] pray that the eyes of [our hearts] may be enlightened in order that [we] may know the hope to which he has called [us], the riches of his glorious inheritance in [us,] his holy people, and [that we may know] his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for [us, his] church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. [Amen.]

Let's continue to praise God together as Elevation Worship leads us in the song, "Yahweh":

Focusing on the Scriptures:

So, as we prepare our hearts for Phil's message from the Scriptures, we will sing "Holy Spirit, Living Breath of God," led by Keith & Kristyn Getty:

The Verse of the Day in Galatians 5:16 provides our focus for today. The apostle Paul reminds us that we need the Holy Spirit to overcome our struggle with our sinful nature, our flesh (the term used in some translations):

So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.

Phil's message encourages us to live by the power of the Holy Spirit:

Remember that to live by the Spirit and to become more and more like Jesus, Phil challenges us to join him in reading a chapter each day from the story of Jesus in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John and to prayerfully ask Jesus what he wants us to know, feel, do, and share.

Sharing The Supper:

Our Communion preparation song invites each of us to pray, "Holy Spirit Have Your Way," as Leeland leads us to offer all of ourselves to God:

We have reminded each other that the Holy Spirit is alive in us.
Phil reminds us in our Communion reflection today that by participating in this Supper, we pledge to let the Spirit of God have his way in us, purify us, and transform us to resemble our Savior more and more closely:

Closing with Petition:

We have reminded each other about the Holy Spirit that is alive in us. We've sung about God's glory and the glory that awaits us as his children. We have opened the Scriptures as the apostle Paul challenged us to live by the ever-available power of the Holy Spirit, who can help us overcome the sinful nature of our flesh. Now, we sing "Holy Spirit Dwell in Me" with the Acapella Group as we invite the Holy Spirit to do God's work in us through the Spirit's power:

We are all encouraged to read the closing blessing aloud as we bless each other, no matter where we are in the world, with our closing blessing:

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with [us] all. [Amen.] (2 Corinthians 13:14).
