There she was on the television show, "Britain's Got Talent." Janey Cutler from Glasgow Scotland, is 80 years old. She was one of those contestants about whom everyone was rolling their eyes when she walked out.

She had to have help walking to her marked spot on the stage. The judges and those in the audience were rolling their eyes until she starting singing: then their eyes got as big as saucers. She was really good. The song she was singing was "No Regrets."

The audience and judges loved her. She was realizing her dream. Simon Cowell asked her, "How many years have you waited to do that?"

She said, "I'm just thankful I'm here tonight."

In a new book "You're Stronger Than You Think," Les Parrott and Bill Dallas talk about two men having lunch. One tells the other that he saw a kids movie trailer and it made him cry:

"The trailer was for a movie called 'Where the Wild Things Are,' and it had this powerful music playing and then, one by one, these short sentences appeared on the screen. The first one said: 'Inside all of us is hope.' It faded from the screen as the music kept playing, and then the next sentence appeared: 'Inside all of us is fear.'

"The next sentence made me wince," Bill said. "This one said, 'Inside all of us is regret.' And then these words, 'Inside all of us is adventure.'"

The apostle Paul tells us:

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them (Ephesians 2:10 NKJV).

Are we fulfilling our God given destiny?

Jack Hayford, in his book "Pursuing the Will of God," says:

The temptation is there, to turn around ... to change your mind ... to head back ... to go home ... to reach back for the familiar and the secure. ... At any point we can let our lives stall out in a gray twilight zone of hesitation and indecision.

It's never too late!
Is this where you are?

I know Janey Cutler realized her dream and I'm happy for her. But how about us? Are we fulfilling God's will and plans for our lives?

Will we get to the end of our lives with regret? Will we regret that we didn't do what God called us to do? It's not too late. If Janey could do it at 80, why can't we begin our pursuit of God's dream for us today?

Two quotes to remind us we can:

  • It's never too late to become what you might have been.
  • Here is a test to see if your mission on earth is finished: If you are alive, it isn't.
