I read about a retired person who said:
The best thing about growing old is you don't have to feel the need to impress anyone anymore.
I've seen people transform this way as they age in my work with marriage and family therapy and my ministry. As they age, some folks no longer worry about meeting the right people, saying the right things, and being in the right places. They're free now to be themselves under God's grace.
Christians should live this way all the time. Pleasing our loving Father is what counts. Being what he wants us to be - genuine, authentic - responding how he wants us to respond is what matters!
Live this way all the time!
Paul said that each of us who is in Christ is a
"new creation" (
2 Corinthians 5:17). That means that the old way of doing things and living in bondage to please the crowd has gone - and with it goes the old value system - and the new has come. Now that's real freedom.

About the Author
Dr. Faulkner was the very first person of note and influence who shared his content with us at
HEARTLIGHT.org beginning in 1996.
Paul Faulkner taught on the Abilene Christian University campus full-time for 35 years. He was honored in 1982 as the university’s Teacher of the Year. He has written several books and was a much sought-after speaker and seminar leader along with his Marriage Enrichment partner, Dr. Carl Brecheen. Dr. Faulkner mentored many ministers and church leaders, shared his loving homespun humor and wisdom through many channels, and endeared himself to thousands. Our dear friend and mentor went to be with the Lord in 2022, but his legacy lives on in the lives of those he touched and made better.
