What Jesus Did! 'All the Others Vowed the Same' — Mark 14:30-31

Sunday, October 27, 2024

Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, Peter — this very night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny three times that you even know me."

"No!" Peter declared emphatically. "Even if I have to die with you, I will never deny you!" And all the others vowed the same.

Key Thought

Peter's bravado in this instance was not a solo performance. All the followers of Jesus felt that they would follow him to whatever fate awaited them. Little did they know that they would all forsake him and run away. How sad! How true to life! When we look in Scripture, we find quite a number of people who lost their way and their loyalty to the Lord. How wonderful that the Lord found a way to reclaim so many of them! May he do so with us! May we do so with others!

Today's Prayer

Lord, make me an instrument of your reconciliation. Use me to bring back those who have lost their way. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
