What Jesus Did! 'Like Angels in Heaven!' — Mark 12:25

Tuesday, September 3, 2024

[In answer to the Sadducees' question about marriage in heaven, Jesus continued,] "For when the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage. In this respect they will be like the angels in heaven."

Key Thought

With so much fascination about angels in recent years, this promise in today's verse should simply astound us. Our being, our relationships, and our lives will be brought to a higher level of existence after our resurrection. Glory awaits those who belong to Christ. Joy is our future. Victory is our destiny. Transformation into perfection lies ahead. Our eyes will behold our Savior, and we will be like the angels. [1] Praise God for such a future. Hallelujah!

[1] There are many good things about the New Living Translation, but today's verse includes "In this respect" that is not in the Greek. The Greek says only "they will be like the angels in heaven" (Mark 12:25 NIV).

Today's Prayer

O Father, give my heart wings to soar on the faith of such wonderful words about my future with you. Make them more than words to me. Help me believe and embrace my future with you with great and triumphant joy. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
