What Jesus Did! 'Christ Will Explain Everything' — John 4:25

Thursday, March 12, 2026

The woman said [to Jesus], "I know the Messiah is coming — the one who is called Christ. When he comes, he will explain everything to us."

Key Thought

For the second time in the Gospel of John, a woman seeking to meet an everyday problem tells us the truth about Jesus and his relationship to us. The first was Jesus' mother at the wedding celebration: "Do whatever he tells you!" [1] This time, it is the woman at the well: "Christ ... will explain everything to us." As this woman is about to learn, [2] Jesus is the Messiah, the Christ of God. He does explain everything to us. Will we listen? Will we follow? Will we obey?

Today's Prayer

Father, give me the confidence to trust that Jesus does explain everything and give me the boldness to obey. His words are life. His truth is sustenance for my soul. I confess that Jesus is the Christ, the promised Messiah sent to Israel and the nations to lead us to you, O Father. I praise you for sending your Son for my salvation. Accept my thanks in the name of Christ Jesus, my Lord. Amen.
