#thankful

[Paul and his companions] went ashore [in Tyre], found the local believers, and stayed with them a week. These believers prophesied through the Holy Spirit that Paul should not go on to Jerusalem. When we returned to the ship at the end of the week, the entire congregation, including women and children, left the city and came down to the shore with us. There we knelt, prayed, and said our farewells. Then we went aboard, and they returned home.

Key Thought

Life in Jesus means living by the power of the Holy Spirit. We were born into God's family by the power of the Spirit. The Spirit leads us as we seek to live for Jesus. The presence of the Spirit within us empowers us. The Spirit intercedes for us according to the will of God. We are being transformed by the Spirit to become more and more like Jesus. The Spirit will give life to our bodies and enable us to share in life together, forever. The sense that we belong to each other in Jesus is a tie that the Spirit gives us as we share being children of God. Everything we see in this short paragraph in Acts is Luke's reminder of the central importance of our fellowship in the Spirit. How important is that fellowship to me and to you?

Today's Prayer

"May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with [us] all."* We ask this in the name of our Lord Jesus. Amen.
