Unstoppable! 'Remembering I Am Just a Messenger' — Acts 10:25-26

Saturday, June 6, 2026

As Peter entered his home, Cornelius fell at his feet and worshiped him. But Peter pulled him up and said, "Stand up! I'm a human being just like you!"

Key Thought

We live in an age sometimes characterized by its "Cults of Personality." People appear to have an insatiable appetite to be known and have their "ten minutes of fame." Many do all they can to be recognized on social media - to have the most likes or shares for their posts and personal stories. Throughout the book of Acts, we will notice that one of the things that empowers Jesus' unstoppable message is the humility and dedication of the Lord's servant messengers. Their work is not about gaining themselves an audience. They do not want to be treated as special people. They recognize they are human, made of flesh and blood like everyone else, save for one distinction: They realize that they are saved by the grace of God given them in Christ Jesus!

Today's Prayer

O Father, as I passionately seek to serve Jesus, keep me humble, and use your Holy Spirit to keep my heart from arrogance and feelings of self-importance. I want to have the heart of John the Baptist, who said of Jesus, "He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less."* I want to be your humble and useful servant leading others to Jesus, not glorifying myself. I pray this in the name of my Lord Jesus. Amen.
