Then he said, "Today I [Goliath] stand and dare the army of Israel! Send one of your men to fight me!" … For forty days the Philistine came out every morning and evening and stood before the Israelite army. … But David said to him, "You come to me using a sword and two spears.But I come to you in the name of the Lord All-Powerful, the God of the armies of Israel! You have spoken against him.’
Lord, many today defy You in their actions, their morals, and in their daily lives. Even so, it often appears that the ungodly are being blessed with prosperity. Remind me, Lord, that this is a deception, and that their success will be short-lived, and that the godly will ultimately win. Remind me of this wonderful story of David’s victory over the mighty Goliath when it seems like I can’t win. And also remind me that he is an example of how all Christians will overcome. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
