And Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the breastplate of judgment upon his heart, when he goeth in unto the holy place, for a memorial before the
Lord continually.
Symbolically, the High Priest had all the people of Israel "on his heart" when he entered the Holy Place. Jesus, our ultimate Priest, had our sins on his back and our forgiveness on his heart when he went to the Cross for us! Jesus is God's Savior for the whole world and our Priest who made the once-for-all-time sacrifice for our sins to bring us to God (
Hebrews 7:23-27,
9:24-28,
10:8-10).
Tender Shepherd, I know you love me because of the great price you paid to redeem me from my sins. Thank you for having me in your heart despite my sometimes rebellious and unfaithful ways. Thank you for your sacrifice. I pray in your name, Jesus, the once-for-all sacrifice for my sins. Amen.
