But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well. (Matthew 6:33 RSV)
Just before Jesus died, as he was hanging on the cross, he said, "It is finished." I hope that when I come to the end of my life I can say, "It's finished."
I bet you are a lot like me. I love to start things! There's always so much excitement in the prospect of something new. But it's so hard to stay with it until the very end when the job gets bogged down with details and loose ends.
Being faithful unto the end is difficult.
Being faithful unto the end is difficult. The thing we need to do is cut down on the things we start, and
seek God's kingdom and God's righteousness, and put everything else second. That way at the end of our lives we can really say, "It is finished." And what we came to do - and what God sent us to do - we've accomplished.
