Today's Verse: John 13:13-15

Friday, March 31, 2023

"You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord,' and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you."

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Before Jesus went to the cross, he showed his disciples what living in a cross-centered community means. He took the position of a household slave and washed his disciples' feet. He did it knowing they would run from him, disown him, betray him, and deny him. He washed THOSE dirty feet - their feet. Incredible! But he also says that I'm to do it, too. "You can't say you love me," Jesus says, "if you won't love those I suffered and died to save" (1 John 3:14-18, 4:7-12).

My Prayer...

O God, I want to be like my Teacher and your Son. I renounce my self-seeking ways so that I can genuinely serve your children, my brothers and sisters - even those who may not be kind to me. Please give me the strength, courage, and patience to live up to these convictions and more perfectly reflect the character of Jesus in my life. In the name of Christ Jesus, my Lord, I pray. Amen.
