Who's the Boss of You?Who's the Boss of You?

We went on a family outing with our adult children and grandson this past weekend. It was an enjoyable time to be away from the pressures of "real life" for a short while. We all piled into our old car, because it was the largest and took off on an 80 mile trip to a Renaissance Festival.

We laughed, joked, talked and in general had a good time with one another. With the especially difficult times we have been going through it was really good to have this special time together.

At one point from the back seat we heard the ominous words that so many other parents have heard through the years. "Dad, He's touching me!" Then, "Dad, he's looking at me!" Then, "Stay on your own side!" and finally, "You're not the boss of me!"

Thankfully they were just kidding around (I think), reminiscing about when they were young children. But the last phrase has stuck with me for a few days, "you're not the boss of me".

Who's the boss of you?
Who is your boss? Who is the one who you ultimately give permission to instruct you, guide you, and perhaps discipline you in this life? For those who are Christians that ultimate "giving up of our rights and our lives" is to God.

Who's the boss of you? The Apostle Paul wrote these great words:

I have been crucified with Christ. I myself no longer live, but Christ lives in me. So I live my life in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20 NLT).

Could it be that it's time to give God permission to instruct you, guide you, and perhaps discipline you in this life?

May God Bless you on your journey and as you try to decide who is truly the "boss of you"!
