Ashamed? - Mark 8:38

And so now I tell you: Stay away from these men. Leave them alone. If their plan comes from men, it will fail. But if this is from God, then you will not be able to stop them. You might even be fighting against God himself!" The Jewish leaders agreed with the thing that Gamaliel said. They called the apostles in again. They beat the apostles and told them not to talk to people about Jesus again. Then they let the apostles go free. The apostles left the meeting. The apostles were happy because they were given the honor of suffering dishonor (shame) for the name {of Jesus}. The apostles did not stop teaching people. The apostles continued to tell the people the Good News--that Jesus is the Christ. They did this every day in the temple yard and in people's homes. Acts 5:38-42 (ERV) I am proud of the Good News. The Good News is the power God uses to save every person that believes--to save the Jews first, and also to save the non-Jews. The Good News shows how God makes people right with himself. God's way of making people right begins and ends with faith. Like the Scripture says, "The person that is right with God by faith will live forever." Romans 1:16-17 (ERV) I remember your true faith. That kind of faith first belonged to your grandmother Lois and to your mother Eunice. I know that you now have that same faith. That is why I want you to remember the gift God gave you. God gave you that gift when I put my hands on you. Now I want you to use that gift and let it grow more and more, like a small flame grows into a fire. The Spirit God gave us does not make us afraid. He is our source of power and love and self control. So don't be ashamed to tell people about our Lord {Jesus}. And don't be ashamed of me--I am in prison for the Lord. But suffer with me for the Good News. God gives us the strength to do that. 2 Timothy 1:5-8 (ERV)
