The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights.

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

In horribly turbulent, violent, and dangerous times for the children of God, the prophet Habakkuk confidently said, "The Lord is my strength!"
Wow, what faith. Wow, what power we have in the Lord's abiding and empowering presence in the Holy Spirit. Even in the worst of times, we are an enabled people. Unfortunately, we often forget the power available to us as disciples of Jesus. That's why I believe we need to pray Paul's prayer for fellow believers in our day:
For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being ... Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. (Ephesians 3:14-21)
Yes, because of the power given to us, we can confidently say, "The Lord is my strength!"

My Prayer...

Sovereign God and Almighty Father, I pray today, asking that you not only be my strength, but the strength of those I love who are battling depression, grief, and despair. I ask your blessings, especially and specifically for these people... (Speak the name of several you want to pray for by name, here!) O, dear Father, I pray that together, we may...
...know the hope to which [you have called us], the riches of [your] glorious inheritance in [your] holy people, and [your] incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength you exerted when you raised Christ from the dead and seated him at your right hand in the heavenly realms.*
Amen.
