Dr. Paul FaulknerGood Luck/Bad Luck, by Dr. Paul Faulkner

We hear the terms “good luck” and “bad luck” tossed around a lot these days. Do you think life works that way? Or do we just call it good luck when things go like we want them to go, and bad luck when they don’t.

I guess I really think that we have to make most of our luck by doing our homework—by being prepared so that when an opportunity does come along we can seize it because we have the expertise now to handle it. I suspect those who trust strongly in luck are looking for a good excuse to avoid doing what they should have been doing all along.

The writer of Ecclesiastes reminds us, “Whoever watches the wind will not plant, and whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.” (Ecc. 11:4) And if you’re the kind of person God wants you to be, you’ll have all the good luck you’ll ever need!
