Randy BectonGetting Right with God, by Randy Becton   Real Audio

I received in the mail recently a letter from Brian. His question was refreshingly honest and straight to the point of what really matters in life.

“How can I be right with God?”

That’s what sinners need — forgiveness.
I’m so glad Brian asked this question. It’s the most important question you or I can ever ask. If we read what Jesus said about that, we can come to understand that it all boils down to taking seriously what he did when he came into this world. He came and walked directly to the cross. The cross is the center of our faith. It is what makes us right with God.

That’s what sinners need—forgiveness. Forgiveness is available in the cross of Jesus Christ. Earned, not by us, but by him. Paul, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit said: “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not of yourselves, but it is the gift of God. Not of works that no one can boast.” When we give our lives in response to what has been given to us in the cross of Jesus, we know that Jesus’ death will make us right with God.
