It’s Who You Know that Counts

Recently, I was a guest on a popular radio talk show in one of the nations largest cities. The host was an exceptionally bright professional, widely ready and very current with today's religious trends. He talked with me about my background, what goals I sought to accomplish through “A Caring Touch,” my bouts with serious illness and the 13 non-best selling books I'd written.

May I be honest with you, he was very courteous, but he wasn’t overly impressed with me as a person. That is, until he mentioned his favorite Christian author, Max Lucado. I told him I’d been Max’s friend since college days. That in fact, Max sent me his first manuscript 20 years ago and asked if I thought it was “good enough!” I added, not thinking I was name dropping, that I’d been part of the church that sent Max and his wife Denalyn to Brazil as young missionaries.

All of a sudden the host was very interested in me. Maybe it really is not what you know, but who you know, that counts. Max and I are dear friends, but we are both nothing without Jesus Christ. He’s the one we both want you to really know—he’s The Key to the heart of God!
