When is Heartlight updated?

Short Answer: Wednesday.

Long Answer: Heartlight is updated every Wednesday morning around 9:00 AM, US Central time. Sometimes earlier, rarely later. The Heart Gallery section is an exception—it is posted every Friday morning.

If you visit the site and it doesn’t appear to have been updated even though Wednesday has passed, try Reloading the page.

Can I use these articles in my bulletin/newsletter/email?

Short Answer: Yes.

Long Answer: We have no problem with people using our articles or images in their publications. However, we do require that you retain the copyright information with the item. This basically means giving us proper credit for work we have done.

Additionally, we ask/suggest/request that you tell your readers where you got the item: Heartlight Magazine (http://www.heartlight.org).

Who are you guys?

Short Answer: Really nice people.

Long Answer: If you are referring to the organization behind Heartlight, we are a very few people doing this with very few dollars and very few hours. Heartlight grew out of Phil Ware’s weekly radio and newspaper ministry. Now Heartlight, Inc. is being formed as a non-profit organization to publish Christian inspirational and educational information, primarily via electronic format such as the World Wide Web. If it is God’s will, we will be developing more projects in the near future.

We invite you to find out more about us in the contributors section. There you will find basic biographical information on the major contributors.

How do I download the pictures from the Heart Gallery?

Short Answer: Right click & save.

Long Answer: In most modern browsers, if you position your cursor over the picture and right-click the mouse, a little pop-up menu appears. One of the choices is  “Save Image as” or something similar. Select that, and it asks you where to put it and VOILA! the image is saved on your local hard drive.

Now, we do ask that if you use the images or print them or whatever that you retain the copyright information.

Netscape 3.0 b5 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 b2 have a slick feature for Win95/NT users where you right click on the pictures and one of the selections is "Set as Wallpaper." When you choose it, it is automatically converted into .bmp and set as your screen background. Neato!

Are there larger versions of Gallery pictures—like posters?

Short Answer: Nope.

Long Answer: Someday there may be. The Heart Gallery has generated a tremendous amount of interest, and we are open to the possibility of someday offering reprints of the work. Unfortunately, these pieces were created specifically for the Web, and are therefore not of a high enough resolution to print in a large format. If the interest is there, we can take the time to redo them at higher resolution.

Are you selling something?

Short Answer: Not Really.

Long Answer: We do offer Christian products in our Store in order to help support this minstry.

What happened to last week’s article?

Short Answer: Nothing.

Long Answer: If you scroll down past the new article, you will find a table of contents pointing to previous articles. We don’t send articles into oblivion, they just get linked from a different spot.

Why didn’t you select my site as Heart Link o’ the Week?

Short Answer: Relax.

Long Answer: It could be any number of reasons, none of which include an attempt to insult you. Probably we don’t know about it (we can’t be everywhere), or the content wasn’t quite right for our readers, or maybe there was just a more awardable site (in our humble opinions) that week. Have patience.

Do I have to visit the site to get the articles?

Short Answer: No.

Long Answer: Using our ultra-handy email distribution list, we send the text of our weekly updates to a growing number of people who like the convenience of having the site come to them. Go to this page to learn a little more and sign up.

What does Heartlight mean?

Short Answer: Read II Corinthians 4:6.

Long Answer: Heartlight refers to what Paul calls the  “light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ,” that he says God has placed in our hearts. WOW! With that kind of wattage in you, you can’t help but shine! That’s what Heartlight means.

There are other people using that name for different reasons and for different activities including a video game and a New Age phenomenon, but we have nothing to do with those efforts.

What’s next for Heartlight?

Short Answer: We don’t know.

Long Answer: We are exploring a number of possibilities, so stick around to find out what's next!Back to top

Why haven’t I heard of you before?

Short Answer: Money (or lack of it, actually)

Long Answer: Heartlight simply hasn’t had the funds needed for a sweeping ad campaign to raise awareness about our site. We are committed to maintaining this publication as a non-commercial venture and that has severely limited our ability to advertise. We’re pretty much relying on word of mouth and a few small ads carefully placed.

So you, our valued readers, are our main force. And we could really use your help. So tell somebody! Back to top
