Be Intentional About What’s Important

When I interviewed dozens of great families for my recent book, I asked about their family philosophy. Listen to what one father said:

“Parenting requires your best, your dedication, your attention. Good families don’t just happen. Sometimes you’ve got to choose between what you want to do and what you ought to do. It’s difficult to be good at both golf and tennis. You have to select and choose, you have to take the time to do it right. God gives our children for such a short time. If you don’t do it now, it won’t get done.”

That was well said, wasn’t it? When parents who advocate the ability to choose, choose not to choose, we give up our chance to intentionally focus our home in the right direction.

So, make the rest of the day work a little better for you. Choose to be intentional about what is most important in life: your children.
