Commitment in the Midst of Conflict

Intimacy is the way two people weave oneness into their relationship. In our marriage, probably nothing has allowed Gladys and I to become one more than our unconditional commitment to staying married. We can disagree, even have spats, without coming unglued or threatening to separate (God forbid). Because we absolutely rely on our commitment to each other, regardless of the circumstances. In fact, we have become more one as we have seen the brawn of our commitment in the middle of strong disagreements.

No matter what comes between us, there’s never a question that we will stay with it. That we can, that we will work it through. And we’ll be better off because of it! The strength of that resolve holds us like an anchor in a storm. And every time it holds, it gives added confidence that it will hold the next time.

Let’s make the rest of the day work a little better. Reaffirm your commitment to your spouse today.
