What You Think of
Yourself Is Important

What a person thinks of himself is pretty important. The Bible says in Proverbs 23, “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” We live our lives according to the mental picture we have of ourselves. So it’s important to see ourselves as we really are, with no misrepresentation.

In Romans 12, we’re told not to think more highly of ourselves than we ought to think. But as children of God, neither should we think of ourselves more lowly than we ought to think. To often our energy is spent trying to convince ourselves and others that we are significant, because deep down we’re scared we’re not. And this just keeps on keeping our attention on ourselves.

So let’s make the rest of the day a little better. Ask God to help you to love yourself a little more because of who you are…or better, because of whose you are.
