What Wives Really Want

I’ve asked many wives this question:  “If your husband would agree to give you anything you would ask of him, what one thing would you ask for?” And here are the answers of about eight wives. They say things like  “more time” or  “understanding,”  “stronger leadership,”  “affection in public,”  “that he wouldn’t think he had all the answers, that he doesn’t always have to give an answer,” or  “be more forgiving.” And one lady said,  “Listen to me more instead of making me feel like I’m talking to a hollow tree!” and another said,  “Accept me as I am.”

Did you notice that few wives asked for what most husbands probably assumed they wanted? They did not ask for power or prestige or wealth. Most wives asked for the little things: personal things, courtesies, consideration, love, kindness.

So to make life work a little better for you today, ask your wife that question tonight. And promise yourself you’ll do it!
