    When an ambulance passes me on the highway or fire trucks whiz by, those emergency vehicles make my skin crawl. And yet I think I see people every day who are going by me like fire trucks. “Quick! Get out of the way! I’ve got a big job to do!” But life really isn’t an emergency.

    You never get the impression that Jesus moved around people like an ambulance or a fire truck. He never rushed as though everyone was in ICU. He seemed to have enough time to stop, even though he had a monumental task. He always had time to pray, to listen, to really see people. This purposeful living—this style of relationships—brought peace and joy, not frenzy!

    He still does that, by the way. And he will help you get out of ICU, also.
