    Francis Shaeffer wrote, “Right teaching attracts people only if they see right living.”

    The very heart of Christian teaching is love. Well you can’t love everybody in this big old world. But I think God has put each of us in special relationships. It is as though God has cast lots and he’s assigned each one of us to a particular family and a particular church and a particular country. Though we can’t love the whole world, we can love the particular people in the relationships where God has placed us. Then we can move from loving the family to the church to the community and on out.

    We may convince ourselves that we can love in the abstract, but it’s the particular people who count. Especially the particular people to whom God has assigned us!
