    I love this statement from Dr. Anthony Whitten; he said, “Too much love never spoils children. Children become spoiled when you substitute presents for presence.”

    If you’re not around your kids, it doesn’t matter how many toys you give them. If you’re not present in their lives, spending time with them, listening to them, watching them, then the things you buy them are irrelevant.

    Paul wrote this message to the church at Thessalonika, and it’s helpful for us to hear. He said, “We love you so much that we are delighted to share with you not only the gospel, but our lives as well, because you have become so dear to us.”

    Draw near to your children. Be there. Nothing—nothing!—will substitute for you.
