    I read this cute little statement by a nine year old boy, he said, “I’ve learned that you can be in love with four girls all at the same time!” Well, I guess that’s right—for a nine year old. But the kind of love he’s talking about isn’t very mature.

    But real love, though, the kind of love the Bible talks about, isn’t fickle and it isn’t immature. It’s the tough kind of love my friend has for her husband. He has Alzheimer’s. And he spits on her. And he hits her. And sometimes he doesn’t even know her. But says she promised her love to him in sickness and in health, in adversity and prosperity, as long as they both shall live.

    Now that’s love. It’s not cute, but it’s strong and it’s mature.
