Do you think kindness is terminally ill or a thing of the past?

Our Kindness Quotient

What do you think has happened to common courtesy? Do you think kindness is terminally ill or a thing of the past? Many cultural observers think kindness is entirely too random today.

Dr. Dorothy Hemerling is a counselor and she has written a book entitled, Being Okay is Just Not Enough. She tells what to you me is entirely too familiar.

A woman called and left a message on my answering service. When I called her back, I learned she wanted me to give a talk to her organization. As she was giving me the details, her phone rang and she said to me: “Hold on a minute.”

Now Dorothy is holding on, thinking this: The woman wants me to do her a favor and leaves me hanging on the line while she talks to somebody else? That’s not kind.

Is it possible that many of us are lowering our kindness quotient? If so, because of the teaching of Jesus, we’ve got to change that.

What about you? What can you do to be kind today to the people you meet?

The Bible says, “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, and kindness…!”
