What can we do about this sin of racism?

The Color Line

Many years ago a wise man, E.B. Dubois, said “The problem of the twentieth century is the problem of the color line.” In many ways, his assessment still holds true today. You and I must do something about it!

“Family Circle” and “Essence Magazine” conducted an extensive survey on racism in our country today. They asked over 20,000 readers, black and white, about today’s racial attitudes.

They got back stories—black people’s stories about times they had experienced the sharp pain of racism. White people’s stories about times when they had been mistreated by someone of another color.

What can we do about this sin of racism? It’s not only up to us. God expects all of us, made in his image, to take bold action on behalf of each other. As the apostle John said, if we do not love each other, who we have seen, how can we say we love God whom we haven’t seen!

Paul says in Ephesians 2 that Christ came so that the dividing wall between races, cultures and religions can be torn down and everyone can be reconciled to God in Jesus Christ. I still believe in that mission! Won’t you join me?
