Outroof Outroof

During Bible times, apartment-style homes were built atop city walls. Part of the roof of those buildings extended beyond the walls to protect them from rain and sun. The word for this overhang is translated “forbear” in English. It literally means to “outroof”.

“Love covers over a multitude of sins.”
This is the way God commands us to love — to forbear one another in love, or to “outroof” one another. Protecting those you love with your love rather than expose them to the rough elements of our world.

Peter reminded his fellow brothers and sisters with these words, “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins” (1 Peter 4:8).

Today, are you “outroofing” your family and friendships? Let’s protect and provide the cover that will allow our friendships and family relationships to flourish and find shelter from the elements of our world. Let love “cover over” all.
