Real World Real World

Some people live in an imaginary world and become victims of their own vivid imaginations. However, living in the real world is important. It means facing up to what is true.

A story is told about Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. They were camping in the forest. They had gone to bed and were lying beneath the night sky.

Holmes said, “Watson, look up. What do you see?”

    “I see thousands of stars”.

“And what does that mean to you?” Holmes asked.

“I suppose it means that of all the planets in the universe, we are truly fortunate to be here on Earth. We are small in God’s eyes, but should struggle every day to be worthy of our blessings. In a meteorological sense, it means we’ll have a sunny day tomorrow. What does it mean to you, Holmes?”

What do you see?
“My dear Watson, it means someone has stolen our tent.”

When you look out your windows on the real world, what do you see?

When Jesus looked out on the world, what did He see?

Matthew records the answer, “Seeing the people, He (Jesus) felt compassion for them because they were distressed and dispirited, like sheep without a shepherd” (Matthew 9:36).

So what does it mean for us?

It means that people need a guide, a shepherd, a savior. The reality of today’s world is that when we look out and see people, we need to realize that all really need God, the true Guide, the Great Shepherd, and the Everlasting Savior. Let’s help them find Him, today!
