It was one of THOSE Monday mornings. Everyone was running late, in a bad mood, and daring you to violate their lane space. I was stuck trying to get out of a parking lot. The line of cars was backed up way past my position. Person after person ignored my plight -- I saw several cast a glance my way, but none would look me in the face! They didn't want to let anyone in line ahead of them.

Then, some unknown lady made room for me to get out and go on my way. I thought about how nice she was as I drove by. Then I noticed the guy behind her was honking, gesturing, and shouting at her because of her kindness to me! Her kindness had not cost him time or space in line, yet he was still put out with her.

"What a jerk!" I thought to myself about him. But then I caught myself. It is so easy to notice the jerks and get upset about them that we fail to appreciate those special people who bring us blessings. I was not about to let his tirade take away my kind thoughts of her.

We are trained by the incessant flow of negative stories on the news and in the papers to notice and react to the bad, horrible and freakish. But if we look a little more closely, God has a special person tucked into each day to bring a bit of his grace. He will use that special person, especially in our time of need, to minister to us when we need it most. We have a choice on how we react and what we react to. Let's train our minds to look for God's blessings and rejoice in them.

Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - thing about such things. (Philippians 4:8)
