A Grudge Against God

In a lumberyard one day I heard two men talking. One asked, “Have you been to church lately?” The other one replied, “No, not since my father died. He knew how much I loved my father! And I haven’t been back to church since.”

Are you carrying around a grudge against God like this guy? This man had taken the death of his father as an indication that God did’t love him anymore. And from the tone of his voice, it seemed this guy was trying to punish God by not going to church! That’s like cutting off your nose to spite your face! Just as God allows good things to happen to bad folks, he allows bad things to happen to good folks. God didn't promise us a rose garden with no thorns.

So let’s make the rest of the day work a little better. Remember, it’s not what happens to you that counts, it’s your attitude toward what happens.
