Heartlight “Chat”

Dear Friends,

While we believe the Heart to Heart Chat channel at Heartlight has been a blessing for a few folks, we also take seriously our responsibility to our mission -- "to provide resources for POSITIVE Christian living in today's world." A few discussions on chat have become anything but positive and godly.

We sincerely regret the impact closing chat may have on some believers seeking a place to experience online community. However, we do not feel we can protect every user from the abuses of others and do not want Heartlight's name to be associated with the attitude, bullying, and ungodly spirit that have been frequently displayed by some here. We believe God's mandate to us is to provide wholesome conversation that builds up and blesses others according to their needs. (Ephesians 4:29) Since we cannot ensure this is done on Heart to Heart Chat, we believe it is our responsibility before God to discontinue it.

We are exploring ways to allow feedback to articles, images, and devotionals. This will allow for our community's input and yet protect our readers and new believers from the abuses of those who have not learned to reign in their emotions or their online speech. Please be in prayer for us as we seek to faithfully use the opportunities and influence God has given us as a sacred trust.
