Clean Start February Morning

For I am about to do a brand-new thing. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? (Isaiah 43:19)

    After two weeks of drizzle and rain, including a week with the bad ol' bug-a-boo flu, Monday dawned bright and clear and I felt great! I crawled into a hot shower, ahhhh! I took my filthy truck to the car wash. I reveled in the bright splashes of sunlight. It was a clean start February morning.

    In Texas, February is terrible. Cold and rainy, windy and cloudy, the weather gives us its nastiest dose of winter in February. To have beautiful weather is a treat. To wake up feeling good for the first time in a week is blessing. January 1 may have been the beginning of the New Year on the calendar, but today is the beginning of something fresh, new, and clean for me. It doesn't matter that I have a day full of meetings, some of which will be difficult and strident, that can't change the freshness of this day. It's a clean start February morning.

    God is the God of new things. He is full of surprises hidden in the routine. He generously showers his blessings in the middle of hardship and strife. If we allow his mercies to touch our heart, we can find clean start days in every month. We can begin fresh and clean on new projects, make new plans, and establish connections with new people. Old things can be renewed and tired things can be revived as God's Spirit animates us with renewed vigor and opens our eyes to new vision.

    I have no idea what the weather is like in your neck of the woods, but, one thing we do share is the springtime of the Spirit. With just the slightest prompting, we can ask God to make life new, we can ask him to give us a fresh perspective on our lives, and we can ask him to hit the reset button in our life. When we do, our circumstance might not be that different, but we are and so everything is changed.

    It's amazing what a clean start February morning can do if you let it. So why not let it? Better yet, why not let God make things fresh in your world?

Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each day. (Lamentations 3:23)
