Where There is Hope
by Jim Clark
Have you felt lately that there doesn't appear to be any hope for your situation? For young Timothy Torres, life apparently seemed hopeless. He recently joined the tragic ranks of several New York City police officers that couldn't see a way out for their troubled souls.
In one recent year, Timothy was the 12th officer of the New York Police Department to commit suicide. He was only 26 years old. This has been the highest toll of policemen taking their lives since the Depression. One counselor commented that these men are afraid of saying, "I need help." How different things might have been if Officer Torres shared with someone his inner agony.
Life doesn't need to end this way. No matter how difficult things become, there is a hopeful way out. The "God of all hope" can be a sure anchor for your soul. A cross and empty tomb cry out to you and me, saying, "Life doesn't need to end tragically." Hope is found in the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ.
Without God's perspective and love, your problems really can seem overwhelming. But if you view your heartaches through the lens of Jesus Christ and His love for you, a promise of hope will clearly come into the picture.
