Made to Praise
by Scott Owings
For the first few years of child's life, parents usually do all they can to get their little ones to talk. We sing them songs, speak to them affectionately, and praise them for their coo's and babbles. What we sometimes fail to realize, however, is that these noises -- and even their cries -- are more than just the first stages of learning to talk.
What comes out of the mouths of babes and infants is delightful praise to the Creator who made them! Not only is God praised, he wants us as parents to join our children in praise of his wonderful creatures.
As the babe grows into an infant and then to a young child, his or her praise to God does not stop; rather it becomes more intelligible to us. Amidst the healthy "no's" and "that's mine," children continue to teach us how and why to praise God.
