    In one of his recent books, the writer says, “God welcomes home anyone who will have him, and in fact, has made the first move already. ... Most experts—doctors, lawyers, counselors—set a high price on their services and they wait for their clients to come to them. Not so God!” These words were written by Philip Yancey in his book What’s So Amazing about Grace?

God didn’t wait.

    What Yancey says is so true. God didn’t wait. He came to us. “The word became flesh and dwelt among us,” John the apostle says, “and we beheld his glory, the glory of the only begotten Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.”

    Aren’t you thrilled that he chose to come! ...that he willingly came! ...that he didn’t wait around and ask us to make the first move! If so, we would still be lost.

    Jesus was the cause of our being able to be reconciled to God. He is the means. His is the great invitation. We’re to come if we are hungry, if we are tired, and if we are thirsty. Most of all, we are to come if we want the Father’s fellowship.

    God welcomes home anyone who will have him. That’s good news!
