Modern people are folks who like to solve problems, not just accept them. And that’s good! Modern people have been increasingly concerned about social problems like poverty and crime. We debate for hours about how to help poor people and how to prevent criminal behavior. We spend countless dollars on welfare programs and build new and bigger prisons.
But what will cure our social ills is not talk and money, but a new way of thinking — a Christian way of thinking! Jesus said the Lord was among them to preach good news to the poor and the oppressed and the imprisoned.
Jesus is square one. We can keep trying to do it every other way — ways that have proven to be ineffective — or we can take the Lord’s word for it that the way of life in Christ Jesus is the only long-term remedy for what ails us.
Jesus answered, "I am the way. I am the truth and the life. The only way to the Father is through me." (John 14:6)
