Eaten Away from the InsideEaten Away from the Inside

When you first make the discovery, you're speechless. You suddenly realize that this silent terror has been happening right under your nose!

It was Easter time and my wife and I were in "clean up mode." The task at hand was to redesign and reorganize our garage. Upon shifting the first cupboard, termites were discovered.

Termites ... oh no!

We began immediately opening, pulling, pushing — trying every little space to see where the termites had been. We discovered two cupboards where they had set up home, having eaten the back sections of both storage units. These critters had also made a pathway along walls and the floor, all behind or underneath something.

In life, the devil sneaks in behind and underneath things.
We made our most interesting discovery, however, when we found the three cardboard boxes on the floor. Each looked quite sturdy, but as we began to move them, they crumbled. The outside looked like a normal box. Inside, however, each box was eaten away to be only paper-thin.

In life, the devil sneaks in behind and underneath things. If he is allowed, he will set up home in the hidden places in our lives. His "team" of destruction then sets about eating away at our lives till there is only an empty shell left.

Today, let the apostle Paul remind you that your strength must come from the Lord's mighty power within you:

A final word: Be strong with the Lord's mighty power. Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies and tricks of the Devil. For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:10-12 NLT)
