Disciples Have Found the Way Home
by David Smith
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. (Matthew 7:13-14 TNIV) I live on the edge of a city of millions. My father lives several hundred miles away. To get back home to see my father I can choose one of two ways. One way is to jump onto the freeway and join the teaming masses who travel there. The way appears easy because the road is wide. The way seems reasonable because this is the way most people go. But Ive gone that way before and I know something of the dangers of that road. Everyone is tense and jockeying for position. Accidents are common, often fatal. It is a highway of danger and death.
I look forward to going home. And Im thankful Ive found the way. Lead me gently home, father. And you thought I was talking about my vacation plans.
